AN INVITATION FROM THE CONGRESS MUSICAL DIRECTOR

February 2019

Dear Companion in Music Ministry:

Happy New Year! I pray that 2019 will bring you much personal happiness and prosperity and a lasting peace to our beautiful and fragile world.

The Los Angeles Religious Education Congress with its more than 40,000 delegates will once again grace the Anaheim Convention Center on March 22-24, 2019. This annual gathering continues to be the largest catechetical and liturgical gathering of its kind in the world.

“Thirsting for Justice/Sed de Justicia/Khát Kaho Công Ly” is the theme of the 2019 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress and is based on the Scripture reading from John’s Gospel account where Jesus encounters the woman at the well. We are thrilled to have Jeanne Cotter compose this year’s theme song for us!

I am extending an invitation to you to participate in Congress Choir 2019. The combined talents of nearly 300 musicians comprise the group that will provide the music for the final liturgies, attended by more than 19,000 people, on Sunday, March 24, 2019. Truly, St. Augustine’s words, “The Eucharist is where the Body of Christ comes to meet itself,” reflect the rich diversity of the assembly gathered for these celebrations. I hope that in considering this invitation, you’ll decide to join us. I promise you, it is an experience to remember.

To participate, RSVP by clicking the following link and complete the online form at  https://tinyurl.com/CongressChoir2019
