Speaker Spotlight: Jesse Manibusan

Over the three days, RECongress 2020 will offer nearly 300 workshops presented by nearly 200 speakers. Topics range from personal growth to music to spiritual topics — in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. Each Emailing we spotlight one of our speakers:

Jesse Manibusan, founder of Jesse Manibusan Music Ministries, has over 30 years of experience as a liturgical music minister, youth worker, catechist and parish mission director. He has presented at all the major youth conferences, including the L.A. Religious Education Congress, the National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry and several World Youth Days. Manibusan has performed at various conferences worldwide and has several CDs published with Oregon Catholic Press.

THE WAY OF MERCY & HOLINESS – HUMILITY AND VULNERABILITY

“Be strong. Be brave. Don’t show weakness”: Nice sentiments, true. But our faith speaks a deeper transforming truth – be merciful, be humble, be holy. It’s the life of Jesus, his Paschal Mystery. No short cuts and no “Cliffs Notes.” Come and be prepared to “let go and let God.” In the process, we’ll be more inspired to live what we believe and teach!

Behind the Scenes: Steve Meza

Our Los Angeles Religious Education Congress could not function without the hundreds of volunteers who give of their time. We have those visible volunteers who are "out in front," but there is an army of people behind the scenes. These is to highlight just a few of the committee members, coordinators and volunteers who work behind the scenes.

Name: Steve Meza

What is your “day” job?

I actually split my time working at a parish in Los Angeles mainly dealing with liturgies and communications and as a special event photographer for red carpets and charity events.

What and when was your first RECongress experience?

My first RECongress was in 2000. In my first year I came in as a workshop volunteer and served as a workshop Chairperson and Assistant taking tickets. I had such a great experience meeting so many people and loving the workshops that I’ve been back every year since.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer for our next RECongress, please consider this your "personal invitation." We have a need for volunteers for both Youth Day and our Adult Days.

Some Hotel Tips

With you in mind, the Religious Education Congress has contracted with certain hotels in the Convention Center area that offer a variety of pricing and room types that should meet everyone’s needs. Please pay special attention to the amenities offered -- some properties offer free breakfast options and several hotels offer suites that can house up to 6 people -- that can add even greater value to your stay. To get the quoted rates, sure to mention that you are attending the 2020 Religious Education Congress and ask for the REC or Religious Education Congress Block Group Rate.
