Youth Day Artwork and Theme Reflection

God has given each and every one of us the gift of life, so we should strive to live it the best we can. That is why our 2023 Youth Day theme is “Strive 4 Life”!
In the first reading, we hear about Moses explaining to the Israelite people on why obeying God's commandments are crucial for our salvation. Moses says to “Choose life”, which means to disregard sin and death and to follow God for everlasting life. Believing that God is ultimately the one true life and following his commandments to truly capture life.
In the Responsorial Psalm, “Blessed are they who hope in the Lord”, give us a clear message for all those who follow God. “Blessed”, in the readings means to be favored upon or given happiness. If we believe in God and follow his word, he will bless us to be happy and filled with life.
Finally in the Gospel, we hear one of the most known readings and more importantly a verse that many of us, catholic or not, have heard before: “take up his cross daily”. What does it mean to take up your cross? Jesus suffered and died on the cross for us, we know that it wasn’t easy and most of us wouldn’t want to be killed on a cross, yet Jesus tells us to take up our own struggles in our daily lives. Our lives aren’t perfect; we face obstacles and sin along the way to lead us away from the beauty of life but we are encouraged and invited to Strive 4 Life. To take up our cross daily, we have to follow Jesus. The decisions we make in life can be good or bad. The good decisions lead us into a life closer to God, a life that improves daily. Those bad decisions can lead us to a more disconnected life with God.
The theme for Youth Day “Strive 4 life”, is a motto we can use every day to help us live every day to the max and with Jesus by our side. Our theme “Strive 4 life” leads us to seize the time; to breathe, listen, believe, and live!

Adult Days Theme Reflection and Artwork

“Embrace Grace”, the theme of the 2023 Religious Education Congress, is an invitation to experience God’s unconditional acceptance, deep nourishment and transformative power in our hearts, our minds, and in our actions. Not only does our Lenten journey begin the weekend of RECongress, but we have also been invited by the United States Conference of Bishop’s to a Eucharistic revival who’s mission it is to rekindle in each one of us, a living relationship with Jesus profoundly experienced in the Eucharist.
What a beautiful opportunity to reflect on the experience of the power of God’s Grace given to each of us in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, which makes us all brothers and sisters. The Eucharist is inclusive, and no one leaves hungry! “We can evaluate our Eucharistic Adoration when we take care of our neighbor like Jesus does” (Pope Francis’ homily on the Feast of Corpus Christi).
Throughout the weekend we will offer focused workshops on the Eucharist, and as is always a hallmark of the weekend, we will provide Eucharistic liturgies that celebrate the multitude of
cultures that make up the body of Christ in Los Angeles, the nation, and the world. “How much more abundance of grace we will receive” (Cf. Romans 5:17) during this weekend! We invite you to participate in this year’s Religious Education Congress to continue deepening in this invitation to Embrace Grace to become this Eucharistic love for our aching world!

Adult Day Artwork Reflection
The act of embracing literally or figuratively asks that we open our arms, our hearts, our minds, our souls to the actively taking Grace in. “Ephphatha”! Aramaic, “be opened”!
Wrapping your mind, body and spirit around Grace is a circular dance in radiance! Swirling in the light of God! Movement inward and outward as Grace is extended to others. Interaction with the Holy Spirit! Moving in the
Wind! How joyful is that!

“Ấp ủ Hồng Ân”, Chủ đề của Đại Hội Giáo Dục Tôn Giáo năm 2023, là một lời mời gọi để
trải nghiệm sự chấp nhận vô điều kiện của Thiên Chúa, sự nuôi dưỡng và sức mạnh biến đổi
trong trái tim, tâm trí và trong hành động của chúng ta.
Cuộc hành trình mùa Chay của chúng ta không chỉ bắt đầu vào cuối tuần của Đại Hội, nhưng
chúng ta cũng được mời gọi bởi Công nghị của Hội Đồng Giám Mục Hoa Kỳ hãy làm sống lại
Thánh Thể là sứ mệnh nó sẽ khôi phục trong mỗi người chúng ta, một mối quan hệ sống với
Chúa Giê-su qua mầu nhiệm Thánh Thể. Thật là một cơ hội tuyệt đẹp để suy ngẫm kinh nghiệm
về sức mạnh Ân Sủng của Thiên Chúa cho mỗi người chúng ta qua Bí Tích Thánh Thể, khiến
chúng ta trở thành anh chị em. Thánh Thể được bao gồm và không một ai bị bỏ đói! “Chúng ta
có thể đánh giá sự Chầu Thánh Thể khi chúng ta chăm sóc người láng giềng như Chúa Giê-su.”

Trong suốt cuối tuần chúng ta tham dự các lớp hội thảo tập trung vào Thánh Thể, và luôn luôn
là một đạc điểm nổi bật của cuối tuần, chúng ta sẽ có những Thánh Lễ được cử hành đa văn hóa
tạo nên thân thể Chúa Kitô ngay tại Los Angeles, các quốc gia, và toàn thế giới.
“Bao nhiêu sự phong phú của Ân Sủng chúng ta sẽ nhận lãnh” (Romans 5:17) trong cuối tuần
này! Chúng tôi kêu mời các bạn tham gia vào Đại Hội Giáo Dục Tôn Giáo của năm nay, để tiếp
tục thấm sâu vào lời mời gọi Ấp ủ Hồng Ân để trở thành một Thánh Thể yêu thương cho thế
giới đau khổ của chúng ta!
