2-02 What We Have Done and Failed to Do: Catholic Responses to Systematic Racism
Fr. Daniel Horan, OFM, PhD
Pope Francis has said: “Racism is a virus that quickly mutates and, instead of disappearing, goes into hiding, and lurks in waiting.” This workshop examines the reality of systemic racism in our society and church, highlighting the various ways Catholics in general and white Catholics in particular are called to learn, reflect, and respond to this structural evil in our midst. Drawing on Church teaching, the wisdom of anti-racist scholars and activists, and contemporary experiences, this workshop explores how Catholics can become more of an ally and less of a problem in our journeys to become better disciples of Christ.
