5-06 Two Thousand Years of Christianity in Mesopotamia

Christianity has been in Mesopotamia since Apostolic times. Largely unknown to Western Christians, these Christians achieved extraordinary things: Church of the East missions were in China a thousand years before Francis Xavier. By 800 AD there was a Church of the East archbishop in Tibet. Great centers of theology in Nisibis and Edessa (Turkey) before any western universities. They are crucial for the catholicity of the whole church.
