The concept of a thin space is an ancient one, arising from the Celtic tradition but it captures well the time that we currently find ourselves in. Thin spaces are wild messy spaces where God is at work. The Celtic imagination considers sacred places to be “thin,” or places where the veil between the worlds, meaning heaven and earth, seem to be discernibly close to each other. In this presentation, Julianne Stanz will explore how, in these thin spaces we encounter ourselves, our relationship with others and ultimately with God and how they can open up new ways of seeing, fresh avenues of thinking and ultimately, transformed ways of being.
Storyteller, encourager and author, Julianne Stanz is the Director of Discipleship and Parish Life for the Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin and is a consultant to the USCCB Committee on Catechesis and Evangelization. Julianne has been profoundly influenced by her life growing up in Ireland. She is the author of the books "Braving the Thin Places" and "Start with Jesus: How everyday disciples will renew the Church" published by Loyola Press.
