7-07 Finding Living Waters on the Border: A Spirituality of Accompaniment
Bishop Mark Seitz, DD
Bishop Mark Seitz of the Diocese of El Paso will share his experience of encountering Jesus and new sources of living hope for the church and our world, in his ministry with people on the move at the US-Mexico border. In this session, you will learn about the surprise of finding that in working with those whom the world considers poor, we learn how to better love, hope and forgive and we are transformed in an encounter with a God who dwells on the margins. Bishop Seitz will also reveal the five things he wishes you to know about the border and immigration!
In 2013, Pope Francis appointed Bishop Mark Seitz is the sixth Bishop of El Paso. As a prelate serving a borderland community whose sister city is Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, the Bishop has focused his work and heart on the poor and vulnerable, including migrant families and refugees who have made their home in this region or who choose the community as their point of passage. Bishop Seitz believes that migrants add inestimable value to the communities where they choose to live and that parishes and community members should welcome them with compassion, love and solidarity.
