Born on October 13, 1953 in San Jose City Philippines, Bishop Oscar Solis, DD, was ordained a priest on April 28, 1979 in the Diocese of Cabanatuan, Philippines. He has served in the Archdiocese of Newark and in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, Louisiana. On February 10, 2004, he was ordained as the first Filipino-American to be consecrated as a Bishop and he served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In March of 2017, he was appointed tenth Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah. Bishop Solis is the Chairman, USCCB Subcommittee on Asian and Pacific Affairs, a member of the Committee of Cultural Diversity in the Church and Catholic Relief Services Board of Trustees as an Episcopal Liaison, Catholic Volunteers Network and National Association of Filipino Priests-USA. He is the founding member of Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
